Overhead DVD players are a good entertaining way to watch DVD movies and make your time more pleasurable while traveling. Choosing to set up an overhead DVD system in your car can be quite rewarding in the long run, but composite at the start.
A layperson or one who does not know anything about installation can also complete this type of a project himself, however, some understanding and experience in the task will make it quicker. Moreover, carrying out the installation yourself will also enable you to save a lot on setup expenses.
In order to choose a suitable entertainment system, you need to refer to the reviews available on the Internet. If you have any doubts regarding the setup, you have the alternative of getting assistance through the company you bought the system from.

Installation

The first step is to decide a place where you want the DVD system to be installed. Ensure that you select a location which will enable everyone in the rear part of the car to effortlessly view the screen. You might also need to take out the dome light.
The next step would be to draw up an outline of the bracket that came with the system on the headliner of the car, where you have chosen the system to be set up. Ensure that the lineation is centered from both sides of the car.
Partly drop the car headliner, but ensure that you just drop only one side of it, so as to get the wiring arrangement through. You would then need to unscrew the driver side or the passenger side sun visor on which the fuse box is situated.
Disconnect the vanity light by gradually pulling the connectors. Lever the upper and lower pillar trim panel in the same direction from which you took out the sun visor with the flathead screwdriver.
For this purpose you might be required to take out the seat belt if it is connected to the upper pillar. The seat belt is generally fixed with a head or bolt. Take out any screws and securing clips, and loosen the kick panel over the fuse box and position the panel to the side.
Cut out the lineation on the car headliner. Make sure that a support beam runs across the place where you want to put up the system. If there is no such beam, you would need to paste the wood rail to the roof of the car.
Employ the bracket for the purpose of marking minimum four drill holes on the wood or support beam. Ensure that you bore the holes centered on the beam.
Set up the cables which came with the system through the headliner. Ensure that you leave sufficient slack for connecting to the player. Refer to the guidelines and utilize the hardware which came along with the overhead DVD system.
Few systems would require you to connect all cables to the DVD system prior to mounting. Hide the cable assembly in the rear side of the panels that you took out.
Install the bracket assiduously by utilizing the short screws which came along with the DVD system. Join the dome wires to the appropriate wires according to the guidelines mentioned in the DVD player manual.
Connect the power and audio wires as described in the manual. Make sure that all wires are connected to a 12-volt source excluding the black wire which is required to be grounded. The grounding can be done by simply using any screw.
Employ a wire roller to cut the wires, and utilize electrical tape for the purpose of securing wire connections. Position the FM modulator below the seat which is closest to where you removed the panel from.
You would then need to set up the audio cable to the FM modulator. Set the modulator at any radio signal which is mentioned on the modulator. Firmly position the wires where the panels would be replaced. Fasten all panels, seat belt, and headliner back into their appropriate positions.
In this manner you can easily execute the task of overhead DVD player installation. During the installation, simply ensure that the player is not over tightened. If it is, it can cause the screen to buckle. It may take around five hours for the complete installation procedure, so make sure that you have ample free time before you get to doing this task.
