Most people think that changing the engine oil of a car is a costly affair. However, it does not need to be so. Here, we give you a few cheap oil change options which you can avail of to get it done without spending a lot of money.
One of the most important and frequently required services needed for a car is changing its oil. Changing the oil regularly would increase the life of the motor; whereas, if this is not done, then the engine might have to be changed, which is far more expensive than changing the oil.

Inexpensive Oil and Filter Change

Look Around for Special Offers

When you change the oil, you need to ensure that you get it done from a trusted store. There are several shops that offer oil-change coupons at a discounted rate that you can buy. You may have a favorite shop where you would like to get the change done, so call them up and ask them what they have on offer.

Buy in Bulk

While buying engine oil, you should buy it in bulk, as it would help you save a lot of money. There are several mechanic shops or car dealerships that offer oil at a discounted price, making it affordable.
Oil prices usually fall depending on the oil you use, but you can reduce the amount you spend by buying more at the same time. Moreover, there is no harm in buying it in bulk, as it won't get damaged and can be used for the next servicing.

Do It Yourself

Changing the oil may be a costly business, especially if you take your car to a mechanic shop or car dealer. In fact, it's always better to pay an acquaintance of yours to change the oil. You may not need to pay them much, compared to a professional. Moreover, make sure that not only the lubricant is changed, but also the filter.
At a licensed dealer, you will have to pay more to get the change done professionally, but you may just have to spend less for an oil change by your acquaintance, or better yet, you don't need to pay anything to anyone if you can do it yourself.

Watching Out

While going out for your daily routine, whether its work, shopping, or attending events, look out for car repair shops that offer special discounts.
There are chances that you may find some shops that extend an oil change special, every few months. Even though you may not need a change at that moment, it's always better to plan ahead.

Follow Your Own Rules

As per convention, car manufacturers and engine oil companies recommend that you change your oil after every 7,500 miles. However, it's always better to check the owner's manual which comes along with your vehicle.
That's the best guide to refer to, and it recommends when you should get an oil change under different driving conditions. Usually, mechanics say that you should change the lubricant every 5,000 miles, because if you wait for 7,500 miles and somehow forget to get a change done, it may harm your vehicle.
So, in case you are somewhat busy and can't get a change done after 5,000 miles, and it reaches say about 6,000 miles, the car won't be harmed.
